Get Exalted with Sons of Hodir in One Day
The Sons of Hodir are a faction of frost giants located in Storm Peaks. The Sons of Hodir quartermaster has some nice shoulder enchants for every class among other rewards. If you just want to know how you can get exalted in one day then read the section titled ‘Getting Exalted in the Tricky way’ at the bottom of the post.
Getting Exalted in the Normal Way
Getting Neutral with Sons of Hodir
Before you can do the dailies you will need to achieve neutral status with Sons of Hodir. The quest chain to gain neutral status starts with They Took Our Men! in K3. This is a very long chain quest. A full list of all the quests in this chain can be found here. After you finish this quest chain you will probably be sitting on friendly reputation with Sons of Hodir.
Doing the Dailies to Get to Exalted with Sons of Hodir
Now that you are friendly with Sons of Hodir you can start doing the dailies. There are three daily quests that you can get at friendly status:
- Polishing The Helm (250 rep)
- Hot and Cold (250 rep)
- Blowing Hodir’s Horn (250 rep)
Once you are honored you can pick up the following two addition daily quests
- Spy Hunter (350 rep)
- Thrusting Hodir’s Spear (500 rep)
Finally, you will be able to pick up one more addition daily quest at revered reputation
- Feeding Arngrim (250 rep)
How long will it take to get to Exalted with Sons of Hodir?
According to wowwiki, it will take about the following amount of time to gain the reputation from daily quests Without turning in any Everfrost Chips (Everfrost Chip gives you 350 rep if you turn them in):
- Friendly to Honored – 8 days
- Honored to Revered – 8 days
- Revered to Exalted – 11 days
So, a total of about 27 days!!!
Getting Exalted in the Tricky way
Now comes the interesting part… If you don’t want to wait 27 days to get exalted doing the dailies then read on. Unfortunately, you cannot use this trick if you have completed ‘Forging an Alliance’ quest already.
When doing the Chain of quests to get to neutral with Sons of Hodir, there is a quest called Forging an Alliance. This quest can be used trickily to get to exalted with Sons of Hodir in one day! This is what you have to do:
- Take the quest Forging an Alliance.
- Fly to King Jokkum and take the quest You can’t miss him.
- Fly to Njormeld and turn in ‘You can’t miss him’ then take Battling the Elements.
- Complete ‘Battling the Elements’ and turn it in.
- Now abandon the quest ‘Forging an Alliance’ and you can retake all the qeusts! Rinse and repeat. Everytime you will get about 325 reputation with Sons of Hodir… keep doing it until you hit exalted!
Please leave your suggestions in the comment area below.

Can you do the other quests too, in addition to the Forging an Alliance-trick?
If I understand you correctly then the answer is no cause to get the next quests you will have to complete Forging an Alliance and as soon as you do that you won’t be able to do this trick. I completed the Forging an Alliance quest after I was happy with my Sons of Hodir reputation grinding
But you can still do the dailys while repeating this
i’m almost revered now by using this way, i could use an epic flyer tho, it would have saved some time
They have changed the exp you get from finishing Battling the elements from 250 to 75 so you are only getting 150, not 325.
is this safe to do this or can it get you into trouble w/ blizzard
There is nothing wrong with abandoning a quest and retaking it
i got to exalted using this method
not in one day but over 10 times faster than normal
what a pain in the butt flying back and forth from dun niffelem to temple of storms
and I have epic flying… gotta suck if you’re doing this on a regular flier
Oh, this does indeed still work. An added bonus if you are not yet 80, you get 22k xp every time you finish.
I did this up to friendly just to see what would happen, and you will get the normal dailies. But it just doesn’t seem like it is worth it now that it has been nerfed to only 150 rep each time you do this.
This would be worth it if you still got 325 rep, but now that its 150, thats alot of flying
I think at Honored Thorim can also be found closer, at Thunderfall. This reduces the needed flying a LOT.

It still works but as a human I get only ~80 reputation for the You Can’t Miss Him and Battling the Elements-quests.
Complete ‘Battling the Elements’ and turn it in. Then the quest ‘Forging an Alliance’ becomes “Complete”. If you drop it you can’t retake ‘Forging an Alliance’ and the other 2.
Now what ?
My bad …. IT still WORKS. I’m friendly now in about 2 hours and still rocking
This has been nerfed as of 3.0.9, you get 75 from “You cant miss him” and 75 from “Battling the Elements”
Ya Negrodamus is correct as of 3.0.9 it no longer gives a total of 325. u get a total of 150 not worth all of the time spent to keep repeating it IMO
Okay…
So with the new 75 rep per quest… that’s 150 rep per “cycle” of doing the tricky way. Assuming you’re at the very beginning of friendly with sons of hodir then you’d need to do this cycle 260 times. I timed my fastest cycle and it was 6 minutes and 30 seconds. 260 x 6.5 minutes = 1690 minutes or about 28 hours of game play.
I decided to just do the dailies…
Not sure how to edit my post on this site…
But ignore my previous post… I’m getting 400 rep per cycle… which means you only need 98 cycles.. which is 633.75 minutes or about 10.5 hours.
Which is better imo than 27 days worth of dailies.
400? HOW!?
I’m only getting 150 rep per cycle since the rep nerf. There’s only 2 quests to turn in, and each only gives 75 rep now, so that’s 150.
So the rep nerf to 75 made the effort needed to get exalted the “tricky” way almost exactly the same amount of play time as the “normal” way, except that the tricky way can be done continuously instead of daily.
I’m doing dailies because it gives more gold and there’s all kinds of ore and herbs and everfrost chips to grab while doing dailies.
I read about this in thottbot.com and decided not to use this way since I only have regular flyer =(
However, they do have Repeatable quest where we turn in Relics of Ulduar in a batch of x10 to get +250rep. And this is repeatable all the way thru exalted. From searching around the web and experimenting I find that Brittle Revenants almost have 50% drop rate, I always seem to get it every two kills. Maybe the more accurate percentage is 33% or something but my point is that you can gather a lot of these things very quickly by farming these guys.
Also on that note, the Relics of Ulduar is not BoP, which means the AH has it. If you happen to have extra gold you can reach exalted in no time. If you don’t want to spend any gold in it, I still believe this is still a better way: by farming you get all sorts of drops which you can vendor and AH for gold (i.e. I farm around 120relics and get so many eternal earth which I AH-ed for good gold). You can always use the gold from farming to buy Relics of Ulduar in AH, easily reach exalted in a day.
First of, no, there´s no cheaping in taking a quest and then abandon it thus giving you the chance to re-do the quest infinite times, BUT if you find a way to exploit the game, for instance gaining exp more easily or reputation more easily, you should according to the EULA report this to a GM. Does someone remember the guy who dinged 80 first? He didnt cheap, he simply just found a way of gaining more exp by leaving the group in a instance and letting him tag the mobs first, and the rest of the “group” helped with the killing.
So use this “exploit” with caution. Imo its too much flying for such little rep!
And Kiwi_Man, i dont know how the prices are at your server, but at Spinebreaker (eu pvp), 200 Relics of Ulduar (one full stack) costs about 500g. Thats 500g for 5000 rep. And from 0 friendly to exalted you need about 39000 reputation. Thats almost 4000g!
Is it worth it?
Damn im tired, i just realized i typed cheat cheap!
Bring 4 friends along with 2 warlocks, and see how fast you’ll get exalted
This doesn’t seem necessary, I got to revered from neutral in one day w/ Hodir without any of this
I was just doing this and turning in relics of ulduar for honor n i was getting 650rep per 10 relics n the price of 200relics is 60g on my server
Yea, its possible to get exalted in 1 day
thus far i did it on ^ that toon n now im doin it on this one. I did the whole chain up until forging an alliance. I then was able to turn relics in i turned around 450 relics in for rep n im exalted. I was getting 650 exp per 10 i turned in
exalted already!
when i finished “A Spark of Hope” I got to like 100 points to revered. I dont know if that was a glitch or not but if it wasnt i dont see why all you people are complaining.
As of patch 3.3, you start halfway through honored (about 6k rep away from revered) with Sons of Hodir after turning in “Mending Fences” and “Spark of Hope.” Previously, you started at zero Friendly. Because of this change, the increased honor from relic turnins, and the availability of rep badges for triumphs, grinding tricks for SoH rep like the one posted here have become somewhat obsolete.
