Trick to Kill a Raid Boss Easily Without Wipes

Trick to Kill a Raid Boss Easily Without Wipes

Soulstone IconThis is a cool trick/strategy but requires everyone in the Raid group to have a warlock character of at least level 20 (The level at which the Warlocks get the Soulstone spell). It might sound a bit inconvenient at the beginning but it pays off when downing those hard raid bosses.

So basically everyone keeps their low level/alt warlock parked just outside the Raid instance (A warlock from the Raid group can summon all the alts near the Raid instance so the lowbie warlocks don’t die when running to the Raid instance). Just before a hard boss fight run out of the instance and get Soulstone then run back an engage in the fight. Now that everyone is soulstoned you have a higher chance of defeating the boss.

This trick can be used in the five man normal or heroic instances too.

  1. Also a good trick.. l2p so you wont have to do a bucnh of extra crap >.<

  2. Nosociallife says:

Frankly the Minor Soulstone you get at level 18 only restores 400 health and 700 Mana. Even if the Lock is using Glyph of Soulstone that is only 1200 health and 2100 Mana. That is less then 5% health on any moderately geared level 80.
All this will do is take up the time of the healers instead of focusing on their main healing targets.

Personally if anyone ever tried to slow down a raid to get a SS from a low level lock they would find themselves back in Dalaran before they could make it to the door of the instance as I would not hesitate to kick them from raid.

Get geared up and learn the strats.
    ’nuff said.

  3. dumbest trick ever,

you need 2 acounts and why not bring a warlock…..
and fully agree with Luka L2P… jees

  4. Threatfactor says:

“you need 2 acounts and why not bring a warlock”
youre the retard you cant figure out that maybe a lvl 10 warlock might give the soulstone to ANOTHER player not give it to yourself with 2 account you stupid noob. Learn to spell as well.

  5. How about not standing in fire? That works too

  6. Me not you says:

FFS All have a QQ srsly L2 not nerd rage imo, its a tip. If you dont like go cry to your mum.

  7. GG people you are IDIOTS. L2PLAY like me then you will be LEEEEEGIIIT and YESS this is a SICK strat that works with undergeared noobs who CANT play correctly but it works. COMMMIIIIINNNYYYYY YAHHHHAAAAA.

  8. geez people . u r stubborn nerds tbh, did u even think to try it , though it doesnt make any sense.before commenting ?
oh i forgot this is the typical not having a life typo , with no social manners.
i say worth trying for fun

  9. Forazio The leet says:

Well indeed this strat is one of the best ingame atm tbqh. If you are a good lvl 80 warlock like me then you can do great things. I figured this one out when our raid group wiped repeatedly on Prince Keleseth and I said hey you know what I got a good little trick we can try with out group. So I said please Roybak (he’s our group leader, lvl 80 nightelven hunter) please dismiss our group and I will bring my warlock and any others that have warlocks please bring theirs. So he’s all like “ok we will do” and he cancels group. But don’t cancel group too early because then you will be transported out of the instance. We did this and I summoned everyone’s lock to the soulstone in the HF outside of Utgarde and we preceded to make soulstones. After everyone had a soul stone we raped Prince and denied him access to the powers that be. I at first thought that there was no way that Prince could defeat us with our mages +110ap staff enchant but he did.

Thank you for your helpful comment Forazio.

  11. That’s a good idea. I like it.

Everyone seems to have a warlock alt. Technically if you did a lot of switching about you could get almost the whole raid ss’d. It would be funny.

  12. Gladiator Drues says:

James P you must like it because your raid can’t down a boss without wiping. Anyone in this thread that likes this idea has the same mentality. If you can’t down a boss without wiping being SS’s isn’t going to help you. Learn to hot key and not click. Learn to move with other than the wasd keys.

  13. Wow drues get over yourself just because you can hit 2500 in arena doesnt mean you can tell us what to do I like tthis strat too its pretty neat and everything.

  14. @ Gladiator, I have no problem you not liking some/all information provided on this site. If you don’t like something criticize it by all means but please do not generalize and criticize the persons viewing or contributing to the article.

Not all information is equally useful to everybody… that’s the nature of information… so if you don’t like something just say so and move on but don’t have a go at everyone else who finds it useful. This is not a place where you can practice your anger. The last thing anyone else wants is an immature fight over a game in front of a lot of audience (this site gets viewed by over 50,000 players every month)!

  15. Gladiator Drues says:

Admin I by no means am trying to vent/bash anyone on here. I merely stated that being Soulstoned will not save your raid. Forgive me if I sounded that way in any way, but my comments are far less “bashing” than the other post on this particular thread stating”GG you are idiots l2play”, “nerd rage”, and the “you’re retarded” comments first posted.

  16. tbf, this ‘tip’ does reek of a complete and utter lack of competance at the game and to be even more fair it deserves to be generaliSed and criticiSed.

No guild in their right mind would allow this behavioUr, no guild in their right might would put up with such players. It shows a complete lack of skill, lack of knowledge and lack of respect for the game.

In a raid, all that is needed is that you know how to play your class, you’ve levelled it through 80 levels now, it should be long enough to know what each power does and how best to use your talents. If you eBayed your account or paid for powerlevelling from 1 through 80 then yes, you fail. You’re the worst kind of scum to play the game and you do not deserve to play the end game content, delete your character and level one up yourself. This may sound very purist and self righteous however if 10 million other people can level a character to 80, what makes you so special?

So yes, “Learn The Skills”, yes, “Learn To Play”, that’s the whole point of the game, if you fail at a boss, try again, and again and again, it took us 12 attempts to down Malygos25 for the first time but as soon as you actually know what to do in the raid it’s so much better than just exploiting yourself from zone to zone picking up no extra knowledge of the game whatsoever.

  17. Dear Akaora, while it warms my heart that you embrace the ideas of Learning the Skills and Learning to Play with such vigor, your acerbic comment shows an utter lack of competence at using the English language. No comment board administrator in their right mind should have to put up with people like you. Your behavior betrays a sad lack of knowledge of basic spelling differences between varieties of English and a deep disrespect for other users of this board.

Jokes aside, there is a basic rule when it comes to correcting others – don’t make the mistakes yourself and be sure you know what you’re talking about. Also, if you’re such an afficionado of prim and flawless language utilization, maybe you should find and correct at the very least the seven most glaring spelling, punctuation, stylistic and grammar mistakes in your post.

    Yours truly,
    Mike J.

  18. Mike,
I regret to inform you that although trying to sound proper, you have chosen to make a few mistakes yourself. Please recheck your paragraphs and spelling and get back to us when you do.

“afficionado” in your above post: aficionado

    Thanks for playing

    Always truly

  19. Why is it, when people fail to find anything else to comment on, they always stoop to the level of correcting grammar and spelling in other people’s comments. I’m a victim of such crimes myself, I fail to understand America’s obbsession with the letter Z. That aside, if the only thing about my post you are at all at odds with is a minor spelling mistake her and there on a board you cannot edit messages then I will continue to take your comment as a compliment.

  20. Windreaver says:

Using a SS on a dps or healer that is occasionally taken out early in the fight is a better use of a SS than ressing the raid after a wipe. This tip is an extension of that idea, and for that, is a very interesting and good idea.

Now if you need to SS the entire raid to clear a boss, then maybe you aren’t ready for them yet, but that doesn’t diminish the quality of the tip.

  21. To justify why this is a bad idea… In a 25 man raid, if a caster is out of mana and low on health then they are useless to the raid, more than that they are, more often than not, better off dead. If the raid wipes, there’s a reason why it wiped. Bad timing maybe, an undergeared group, sheer lack of competence, or maybe you’re just learning the boss. As a resto shammy I often use the technique of once I’m completely oom, I deliberately die and self res, the fills my health and mana pool back to about 6k out of 20k, resets my mana pot cooldown and I’m back in the fight, this is only used in majorly mana consuming fights where shammies lack the mana regeneration of other healing classes. But a level 20 SS will nly give you mabe 200 health and 200 mana. If you’re oom and low on health then you’re not putting out any damage, or not doing any healing and you’re constantly having to be topped up with health. If you’ve got a decent party then you’ll have a couple of SS’s floating round anyway, a few ankhs and some combat resses, that’s more than enough. First time we downed Malygos25 we had about 10 people down in phase 2 because of a bug where you still get hit for 28k when inside the anti magic shields, because of the group we had we still managed to have 23/25 alive by phase 3.

It’s all about knowing your class, learning the boss your fighting and trusting your raid group. Read up on the bosses before you fight them, learn what abilities they have and know how much you’re gonna get hit for. Watch the stategy videos on Tankspot and more than anything don’t go into the fight thinking you’ll down it first time every time. Even at L80 there is still a rather steep learning curve to some of the raids.

SS the healers if needs be and SS the OT if you have them spare. The MT doesn’t need one as if they go down you’ve done something wrong and it’s better to start again anyway. It’ll be hard for them to build up the threat required to hold it still while you’ve got hunters putting out 13k threat per second on the damn thing. If your MT does go down the stop dps immediately and wait for the tank to regain a decent hold on the threat. Then nuke. If it’s a DPS race like VoA or Patchwerk then wipe and start again unless you feel confident in your healers to heal through the enrage.

Remember in a long raid such as Naxx you’re gonna pick up about 200g each in lootmoney and extra in vendortrash and auctionbait so you can afford a few wipes on bosses the group hasn’t got to grips with. Every wipe tells you something more about how to defeat the boss and even the best guilds have to go through the same process of wiping and reseting to learn the bosses.

  22. Cediztrah says:

Wow worst strat ever. Learn to play. Pretty sure this is against Blizzard’s TOS of rule violations on manipulating gameplay.

  23. not sure how this violates rules of manipulating gameplay, but there seems to be an inherent error to this strategy; the last time I checked, if a warlock Soulstones someone and logs out, the Soulstone effect disappears.
I’m told it wasn’t always this way but was changed to this in a patch by Blizzard to axe Warlocks selling Soulstones for gold.

  24. Jay I’m pretty sure what cediztrah means is that if a 5 man dungeon or any raid takes more than the core party to complete, that violates gameplay. Now I don’t know what you don’t understand about that unless you can do basic math.

  25. Silencer, Death's Demise says:

Quick recap for all to think about in this thread:
You guys are noobs, clearly. All of you.
Gladiator Drues is EXACTLY right, end of story. He pwned all of you like he does to his victims in arena.
Admin: got pwned by his own words, as no one was angry.
heyerdahl you’re a noob, stop trying. You don’t deserve any more of my space on here.
    Akaora, right on.
Jay, please learn basic thought input and output, and learning comprehension and basic common sense.

    That is all.

  26. Lowgearscore says:

How in the world is this even a tip? I mean clearly if you need more than 10 people to clear a raid boss then you don’t need to be doing said raid. I mean ffs, this is awful. To Jay, it is against blizzard’s TOS because you can’t manipulate the gameplay to allow more than 1 soulstone to be in a raid group at any given time, period. What is hard to understand about that? Drues if you are still reading this thread you are awesome and I’ve watched lots of your disc priest vids and they are outstanding. I’m not sure that you can do this trick anymore with the latest patches out anyways.

  27. The sucking up in this thread is awful

  28. Jayisanoob says:

lol jay got pwned hard. LOLOLOLOL that is directed at you

  29. IQof183 says:

Jay did get pwned pretty hard. It’s common sense how it manipulates gameplay.

  30. IQof183 says:

Where did everyone go in this thread? It was quite a fantastical bundle of good entertaintment.
